TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

CAPABILITIES - PROCESSES

 

20" SUB-SHAFT FOR HIGH EFFICIENCY

The 3ADM is equipped with a secondary axis that allows independent control of the spindles over a travel range of 20" (500 mm) in length without the need to reposition the material. After drilling a hole in the beam, there is no need to move the beam to drill another hole, in any axis. Each spindle can move independently in 3 axes while the beam is stationary. This feature significantly reduces processing time and increases efficiency by a minimum of 50%.

The possibility of independent movements allows combined operations: while processing one flange of the beam, it is possible to perform other operations (drilling, marking, tapping, milling, etc.) independently on the web and on the opposite flange.

FEEDING ARM

The feed arm performs longitudinal positioning of the beams. Precise movement capability is ensured with a servo-driven rack and pinion system. Positioning accuracy at 40 ft (12m) is only ±0.04" and at the 20" (508mm) sub-axis is ±0.01".

The maximum positioning weight is 22 ton and the profiles can be moved both forward and backward. The gripper grip thickness is max. 1.18".

Short beams can also be processed with the feed arm system compared to roller measuring systems.

The positioning system is not affected by scaling, shims, rust and adverse weather conditions, therefore, it is more accurate.
There is no need for an additional unit to drive the beams to the cutting station. The feed arm can be rotated 90 degrees to grip the beam in a different position.

STRUCTURE
The machine's base frame is made of sturdy steel sections and the motion shaft frames are made of cast iron. The machine structure is designed with FEM simulation, thus ensuring mechanical strength, optimized material selection, vibration and stress damping and dimensional stability.

ATC - AUTOMATIC TOOL CHANGER
Three automatic tool changer units are provided; one for each spindle and each unit has four tool stations.
The ATC system allows the machine to change tools quickly and automatically, thus eliminating manual intervention and reducing machine downtime.

 

SPINDLE MOTORS

3ADM is equipped with servo motors that provide precise motion capability. The 3ADM also includes 3 powerful high-speed spindle motors.

AXIS MOVEMENTS

The roller linear guidance system, which provides high rigidity and load capacity, is used in the motion axes. This system supports all loads and moments from all directions. These components are chosen from high quality products from INA - Schaeffler Group® (Germany) or equivalent.

Precise positioning and high feed rates are ensured with servo-driven ball screws. Feed arm components are chosen from Atlanta® (UK), Schneeberger® (Germany), WHM Herion® (Germany) or equivalent.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

The 10.4 HP (total) hydraulic power unit generates high working pressure. The hoses and connections used are resistant to the high pressure hydraulic circuit. Intervention and troubleshooting are easy thanks to hydraulic power units from Parker (USA), Brevini (Italy) or equivalent.

ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS

All critical electrical components used in the system, such as thermal contactors, relays, etc., are high quality products chosen from recognized brands. All components and controllers are kept at a constant temperature in the electrical cabinet with a standard air conditioner.

INLET AND OUTLET CONVEYORS

Ruggedly constructed steel conveyors provide a stable structure for beam processing. The height of the conveyors can be adjusted to the same level with each other.

The outfeed steel conveyor rollers are motor driven, while the infeed conveyors are idler driven.

MATERIAL CLAMPING SYSTEM

The beams are clamped in the horizontal plane between the rollers hydraulically and the vertical clamping is done hydraulically by means of pressure arms. Deviations and vibrations generated during the drilling operation are avoided by 16 hardened rollers that contact the beam from both sides.

INTELLIGENT DRILLING PROCESS

The spindle speed can be adjusted continuously. The spindle approaches the material at maximum feed until it reaches the safety distance reducing to a feed rate required for that operation, thus reducing the drilling cycle time.

MINIMUM QUANTITY LUBRICATION (MQL)

MQL minimizes environmental impact by using a 100% natural vegetable oil based blend and eliminating the need for coolant flushing. Nearly dry processing allows the machine to move on to the next operation (welding, marking, etc.) without wasting time on coolant disposal.

The 5 liter (1.32 gal) capacity coolant system is provided for internal cooling of the drilling tools and 2 liters (0.53 gal) of lubricant for machine installation. Additional lubricants can also be provided upon request (5 L or 25 L) (1.32 gal or 6.60 gal).

CENTRALIZED LUBRICATION

The centralized lubrication system consists of a grease pump and main and intermediate distributor. Fifty-four (54) lubrication points of the machine are automatically and periodically lubricated by this system. It has a capacity of 1 liter (0.26 gal) and is designed to withstand an oil pressure of 250 bar (3,625 psi). All moving components operate smoothly and have a longer service life thanks to the self-lubrication system from SKF (Sweden).

SECURITY FENCING AND INTERLOCKING GATES

A safety fence is provided to prevent entry into hazardous areas*. The safety fence has various types and dimensions.

The interlocking gate is integrated with safety fences. When the sensor detects that the interlock gate is open, all systems in the corresponding zone will be shut down immediately.

*The scope of the fencing system depends on the project, it may include additional charges depending on the scope of supply.

SAFETY SWITCHES

If the gates are opened during operation, the machine automatically stops to provide a safe working environment.

WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL

The remote control allows the operator to control some of the machine functions remotely and verify the process safely.  Remote controls may vary in models and features.
