Soldini Argentina (November 2004) - The company Aceros Industriales SA, a manufacturer of precision wire, has recently installed four modern Cym Materiales S.A. shot blasting machines for rods and bars in the town of Medellin, Colombia.

The need to invest in the Cym shot blasters emerged out of a company management initiative to eliminate chemical pickling for the preparation of their raw material and secure the health of employees.  Additionally this move toward shot blasting will eliminate any risk of environmental pollution and reduce overall production costs.

Shot blasting is not only a safe and pollution-free process, it is the only process that today may be used for mechanical descaling in-line with the wire drawing machine or off-line in batch (complete coil) descaling to supply several wire drawing lines. 

In either configuration, in-line or batch, shot blast descaling consistently produces an exceptionally cleaned rod surface well suited for the production of high quality wire and rod products. Three BAR 30 3x20HP models were each installed in line with individual wire drawing machines. 

A fourth BAR 60 2x20 HP model is now in service for individual bar processing. The BAR 60 computer controlled shot blaster is a comprehensive system with moving conveyors for automatic loading and unloading of parts for descaling round, square and hexagonal bars. Along with commissioning assistance the Cym Materiales S.A. technical team instructed Aceros Industriales S.A. workers in the proper operation and maintenance of the shot blasting machinery.
