Structure Blast Cleaning Machine for Esmetal S.A.C - Peru

Soldini, Argentina - (May 2007) - ESMETAL S.A.C., a metal mechanic Peruvian company, leader in the manufacturing of large steel structures, entrusted to CYM MATERIALES S.A. the building of an automatic shotblasting equipment that would allow to process their whole production. Esmetal S.A.C. already had a CYM shotblasting equipment for profiles and structures of small and medium size, model PER 12x12 with 4 turbines of 20HP, acquired at the end of the year 2002, and a shotblasting room/cabin by compressed air where large structures were processed. Due to an increase of the quality requirements, the satisfaction of market demands, an increase of production, especially in large structures, and a high operative cost of the equipment of compressed air with regard to the turbine equipment, Esmetal found that it needed an equipment that would allow to shotblast all the production with an machine that worked in a continuous and automatic way with an optimal operative cost. Previous to the purchase of the equipment, meetings with members of ESMETAL S.A.C. staff for outlining the machine that would best adapt to their needs, were held in Lima – Perú and in Soldini- Argentina, where Cym Materiales SA is located. Engineer Jaime Gonzalez, Esmetal’s General manager, made us the following comment: “With this new purchase our production, with regard to surface preparation, is practically covered, we have improved considerably the quality of the finishing, paint adherence and time of delivery of our projects. On the other hand our surface preparation costs are decreasing dramatically, allowing us to use our resources, space and staff in a more efficient way”. The outstanding characteristics of this equipment are:

  • Cross-section of maximum passage of pieces of  2500 mm of base by 1500 mm of high.
  • Length of the conveyor: 12 meters inlet and 12 meters outlet.
  • Sixteen  (16) wheels of 10 HP tilted in relation to the passage of pieces, to achieve an excellent coverage in complex structures.
  • Shot initial load 14 tons.
  • Profiles advancing speed (production):
    • Simple beam : 1 metre per minute
    • Complex beam. 0.4 to 0.5 metre per minute
  • Interior blast chamber covering built in high resistance wear cast iron.
  • The dust collector was installed on the roof of the cabinet for using less space in the facilities.

The installation of the equipment, was performed in July of the year 2007, and was supervised by technical personnel from Argentina with the help of staff assigned by Esmetal S.A.C. Direction.  At the same time the equipment was put into operation, the workers of the acquiring company received a specific training from Cym Materiales SA technicians.
